~Bluefire~
This is one of the very first Bluefire originals (and one of several instrumental jams we used to perform) that could stretch on for an hour. In a nod to the classic Blues Brothers movie, Chris titled it BDR-529, the license plate number of the original Bluesmobile. This song is the ultimate in our self-indulgence. It includes a bass solo, an extended drum solo, and many guitar solos. It was Chris' way of allowing Erik and Scott to stretch out and steal the spotlight, if only for a few moments. As with most of our instrumentals, this song has a way of re-inventing itself each time it is performed, as dictated by the moment. Over the years, it has evolved from an overextended jam piece to a platform of medleys, and finally back to a song of it own with some semblance of structure. It has become a staple of our live shows and a crowd favorite.
